Service · App developer NZ
Custom apps, client portals and internal tools, built around how your business actually works instead of bending your process to fit someone else's software. Fixed price, and you own what gets built.
Everything below is in production for a New Zealand organisation. Names stay private.
An order portal for a powder-coating manufacturer: orders, job documents and status in one place, an order API for their own systems, and a scheduler that re-plans the plant around the day's priorities.
Scheduling and a job app for an air-conditioning company's technicians, with a CRM behind it and monthly billing packs that generate and send themselves.
A university's student applications platform where students, evaluators, advisors, moderators and administrators each see and do their own part.
A trading-card marketplace with Stripe checkout, accounts and listings synced to a partner marketplace, security-audited before launch.
An investment firm's advisor platform that generates client portfolio reviews and writes file notes straight into the CRM, delivered in weekly releases.
Purchase orders and shipments logged from the inbox for a three-person distributor, with carrier tracking pulled in automatically.
For years the rule was: buy the software, then change your process to fit it. Most businesses end up paying for a product built for everyone, using 20% of it, with spreadsheets filling the gaps. AI-assisted development has brought the build cost down far enough that the software can now be shaped around how your business works instead.
When I started in AI and automation, a system like the ones above needed a corporate budget north of a million dollars. Now a business with a handful of staff can have one for a fraction of that.
Sounds odd coming from someone who builds apps, but custom isn't always the answer. If an off-the-shelf tool covers most of what you do, use it, and I'll tell you so on the first call. Custom pays when:
The code, the accounts and the data are yours. By default it runs on AWS in Sydney in an account you control, or in your own Microsoft Azure tenant if that's where your business already lives. It's documented well enough that another developer could take it over, because you shouldn't be locked in to me or anyone else.
Most business apps I build are web apps. They run in the browser on a phone, tablet or desktop, staff can add them to their home screen, there's one version to maintain, and there's no App Store approval to wait on. If your customers need to find you in the App Store, or the app needs phone features a browser can't reach, we'll talk about a native app on the first call.
Custom apps and client portals run NZ$4,000 to $15,000 over 6 to 12 weeks on my pricing page, fixed before anything is built. Hosting is billed to your own account, so you see the running costs directly. Discovery is always free.

Usually 6 to 12 weeks, with working software to look at in the first few weekly releases.
Yes. The code, the accounts and the data are yours, hosted in an account you control and documented so another developer could take over.
Yes. Most of what I build connects to something you already run: Xero, MYOB, Microsoft 365 and SharePoint, HubSpot, simPRO, Shopify and Stripe among others.
Most business apps I build are web apps that run on any phone and can be added to the home screen, which avoids App Store approval and keeps one version to maintain. If you need a native app, we'll talk it through on the first call.
Book a free 30-minute call and walk me through it. I'll tell you whether a custom app is worth it, or whether something you already pay for will do the job.
